BATHROOM SAFETY Safety is the most important feature you should think of for the bathroom. It may be a matter of carefully engineered ergonomic detail, it may be a matter of intelligent design that allows easy adjustment of bath seats and benches to an ideal height. But ultimately, safety should always be the first consideration when buying bathroom products. The second important facet is aesthetics. We know that nobody really wants the institutional look, so manufacturers have produced many products in attractive colours, clean shapes and smooth and attractive contours to help blend these devices into contemporary bathroom decor. By enhancing the user's
environment the bathroom not only becomes a safer place,
but also looks pleasing. BATHROOM SAFETY AIDS There are bathroom aids to suit everyone's needs.

asset in the bath or shower. These safety support bars
provide a sure handhold to prevent accidents. They are
available in a variety of straight lengths and right or
left angles. Bars must be permanently attached to the
wall (this should be done professionally). All mounting
hardware is usually included.
Bathtub Safety Rails
assist patients while entering and exiting the tub. They
add additional height to the tub wall, thereby reducing
the amount of bending required. Tub rails are generally
of a clamp-on or suction cup design and do not require
tools for installation. Tub rails come with rubber pads
on the inside to reduce any movement and to protect the
tub's finish from scratches.
Bath and Shower Seats
are the ideal solution for safe bathing. They are
available with or without back, standard or variable
height legs, padded or regular blow-molded plastic seat
and back. These seats ensure additional safety for those
needing the extra stability while taking a shower. Bath Transfer Benches
provide a larger seating area for safer lateral
transfers. The bench "straddles" the tub which
allows easy transfer from a wheelchair onto the bench.
They are available with or without an arm rest. Bath Transfer Boards

the tub. It also functions as a shower seat. -They are
easily adjustable without tools and accommodate various
tub widths. These are excellent for travel. Toilet Safety Frames

support and enhance safety by providing greater secure
hand support when raising and lowering oneself. Raised Toilet Seats

sitting or standing. They increase seating height to
reduce bending at the knees. These seats are available
with or without a clamping mechanism. The clamping
mechanism prevents any shifting, as it is securely and
easily clamped on to the bowl. Additional arm support is
available on some models to support arms while seated, as
well as assisting when raising and lowering oneself.
Blow-molded plastic forms, or solid plastic seat with
bracket will fit most toilets.
Commodes are the
answer for the patient unable to move from a bed or
wheelchair without assistance. The commode is usually
placed beside the bed so the patient has bathroom
facilities readily available. Commodes provide a
comfortable, stable hand support to aid those that have
trouble bending, or are stroke, arthritic, or hip surgery
patients. There are many different features available on
